| I purchase a lot of anime and my mom knows how much I purchase, simply she'south never known how much I spend on it. She just knows to expect a package or 3 at least every other week and to proceed an eye out for the mailman. Tonight, though, I has having problem with Paypal and Ebay so I asked for her help and she saw how much money I was spending. She immediaitley goes, "What are you buying for $250?" I immediately started laughing because I realized she has no idea how much money this anime stuff costs, she merely knows I get a lot. I tried to convince her that for what I was buying it was great deal, but she just rolled her eyes. The thing is that she also buys DVDs, but information technology'southward stuff like "Lilliputian House On the Prairie" and "Dr Quinn" for $25 a set up. I so started out pointing out things in my collection for her to guess how much it costs. I started with my Sailor Moon S and SuperS sets considering they're the about expensive and she didn't desire to play anymore once I told her how much they price. It was hilarious. Then my question to all you is: What kind of reactions have you lot gotten from people outside of the anime loop one time they acquire how much you paid for some of it? It tin can be DVDs, figurines or all those other piddling items like wall scrolls. Also, exercise yous try to convince them that information technology's actually not that much when you take in the circumstances ("It's a strange product, anime isn't that large or the detail was OOP or whatever)? | |||

| Oh my parents know the price of DVDs by now. Basically I society DVDs maybe once every 4-6 months, I always spend $50+ a order. I purchase manga every two months or and so. My mom drives me to the store and doesn't say anything most me spending my money on comics. Then there was the whole "Your spending $200+on DVDs as your holiday gift? Don't you retrieve that'south a scrap to much?" deal I got when I placed my gift lodge a few months ago. I love to bespeak out how much I spend to visiting family to. My aunt thinks that my shelves and mech collecting is a proficient hobby and my mom and dad should but let me do as I please for now. My friends who come up over to hang out always beloved the fact nosotros can just pull out a random title off my DVD shelf now and watch something. Basically my mom and dad have stopped caring because everything I buy is out of my own money, or it's gift money from them and I tin place the order my self with out them doing the work of filling things out. I don't know if that'south a skillful or bad thing | |||

| I make a indicate of not talking almost that. Of course, smart people know automatically if they see my drove (but that is only IF they see it)... but I sure don't just tell people about the "cost" part of anime collecting. ...I know I'one thousand a cursed spendthrift, but that doesn't mean other people have to judge me for it. (I was the same mode when collecting the heck out of music. And books. Etc.) | |||

| I don't worry well-nigh it too much. I guess I don't talk much about my anime ownership, and if I practice, I don't talk too much about how much I am spending on information technology. It has come upwards with a couple of people at piece of work, merely nigh of them have something similar. I guy loves golf game and is always looking for clubs to collect. One person likes to spend a twenty-four hour period or ii a calendar month shopping for antiques. Another person buys rare books. Heck, we have several smokers in the function. At least I'm not literally burning my actress spending money. If you are spending your coin on something that brings you enjoyment, so it'south money well spent. Every bit long as you have your other needs taken care of and are not spending irresponsibly, and so I don't really call up anyone should be criticizing you for information technology. Who is to say what is or isn't a "waste product" of money? | |||

| Beingness an adult i accept to manage my coin, so I may buy one anime something on every paycheck. So I may put some money down on a boxed fix of a show, or a manga or two. I take really important bills to pay, like dues, or lights, or internet. | |||

| When I was nevertheless living at home, my mother would NEVER know how much I spent on anime, because she already had a dim view of cartoons and manga in full general, and the toll I was paying would probably make her take a fit. Now that I'm past myself, I may drib a "Oh, I just picked up a few things while I was out" and she kind of merely shrugs and goes with it. She would detest to see my bedroom at present though. | |||

| With me it'due south more what I spend on DVDs in general, which isn't much lately, since there's more to my collection than only anime. Withal, I'm an employed 27 year old adult and information technology's actually nobody else's business how much I spend and on what every bit long as I have enough for the bills. | |||

| I can't answer that question considering nobody I know knows how much I spend on anime, etc. I'm pretty certain they'd be appalled if they did. Bluntly, I try to forget how much I spend, too. | |||

| Well, first off I just purchase thinpacks for purely space reasons. I literally don't have much more than room and that's going to pretty much cease the issue for me in one case I preorder the concluding Dear & Clover set and leave room for Vampire Knight when it comes out and anticipated room for the rest of Tsubasa and xxxHOLiC being licensed. I also don't have boatloads as in that location's just a certain amount of anime that grabs me enough that I know (or can be fairly certain after research) I'll rewatch. I'm also realistic nearly how much I tin purchase and actually have time to sentinel at to the lowest degree in one case a year. | |||

| I accept $1000+ worth of anime trade, only that is from collecting over it 11 years. I tend to proceed information technology a secret from people but once they walk in my room information technology's pretty obvious that my collection must be worth a lot. Haha I should upload some pictures for that one forum that shows fans' biggest collections. Well maybe it isn't quite that big. =P | |||

| When doing an gild a while ago, my married woman was astonished to see a total of $1000 in the cart. "Is that how much you lot spend every time?", she asked shockingly. I replied, "Nope. The worst role is about to come when I shave this down to my average of $200." She watched me go through and begin deleting them off, one by one. She was curious to know why did this, so I said "TRSI doesn't have a wish listing, so I throw in everything I want. So, I put an 'order' on possible enjoyment of the series. Most of these, I know zip about." Of grade, she thought that was rather silly, but she'due south come up to terms with it. When the kids come over, they ordinarily do then with their friends who detect my collection "interesting". When they ask how much it goes for, I merely tell them "Information technology depends on where yous shop. Some are as low as $12 for a collection, some more than $80. The average is well-nigh $forty." They don't seem shocked by the amount, especially given their purchases of music and movies. I guess the generation gap does see prices differently. Merely when it comes to my figures and merchandise, those prices are hush-hush. Telling people figures can go every bit loftier equally $140 would shut their encephalon downward to find some logical reason why plastic costs so much despite them enjoying the display. I judge I'll always be a sucker for this stuff, but it'south better than what Hollywood shoves out or what's on Boob tube, that'due south for sure. | |||

| @ PJ - it's true that TRSI doesn't take a "wish list" per se, just you can "save" your possibles for a latter date. They are stored in your shopping cart and when you are fix to club any of them, you can just crash-land them upwardly into the social club department. | |||

| I think people would be more shocked to know the price I pay for anime trade rather than DVDs. | |||
