The places almost where I live (Western NC) charge about $xv to $20 a person and $5 for a libation tube on the New River. At that charge per unit I could buy my ain stuff and but bulldoze two cars to where I'm going and salve money and that's only on a single trip, only yes information technology is a ton easier to rent and get dropped off. There is a river about thirty mins away where if my group drives ii cars nosotros are able to park at the entrance and exit of where we tube and it works pretty well.

My family actually throws very large tubing parties annually where about 100 or so people float down a river for iii-v hours. Nosotros've found that the all-time tubes are unremarkably the ones designed for tractor tires. You tin get to whatsoever tractor supply store (common in my expanse, merely if y'all don't live in a more country setting, they may be fewer and far between) and option them upwards relatively cheap. And they generally are somewhat rugged and will last a while likewise.
Also, if you desire something different and fun on your floating adventures, the big round bow and pointer target that's people use also office amazingly well as rafts. Lash a cooler to it and throw someone on acme and now you have a floating bartender. The more y'all know!

Intex makes some sea worthy vessels. My blood brother and I have used their inflatable boats earlier. I was amazed with the durability of the $100 boats they make. Nosotros traversed some crude water and banged into a few docks with barnacles. My brother used nigh 30-40 times over 2 years before it developed a small leak.

We used to practice annual trips (July Long weekend / Canada Twenty-four hours) down the Bow River.... vi or viii hours of floating, then camping ground on a deserted isle in the middle of the river. We'd army camp in that location for a couple of days.. eat similar kings, beverage like fish....... fish....... and calorie-free off fireworks. Then float another vi-8 hours to the end, when nosotros were finished. It was always a blast. I've used everything from inflatable kayaks to pocket-size inflatable boats, to an aluminium fishing boat, sans motor.
One buddy (the dude with the umbrella) used to lug forth a car bombardment so we'd take tunes the entire way :) I planned this out 100% using Google Earth.. and institute the island we camp on. Makes me desire to go once more.... and then much work though.

I usually only go down to my local tire store and become a tractor inter-tube for cheap, last pretty skillful, not prone to tares and punctures, and works great!

I would merely make sure that the tube is super durable - you never know what sharp objects you're going to float over on the river. That'southward ridiculous it costs so much to rent the tubes!

I would only make certain that the tube is super durable - y'all never know what abrupt objects yous're going to float over on the river. That's ridiculous it costs so much to rent the tubes!

A piddling update on my "toobing" hazard.

I vastly underestimated how long information technology would accept to become from bespeak A to betoken B for this trip. After about 5 hours, we were simply half fashion washed and information technology was starting to go dark. So we walked almost iv miles back to our automobile at betoken B. Nevertheless it was still a pretty good gamble. Commonly nosotros would have been moving faster considering they release water from the dam at the start, but we got there after the water release and the river was apparently moving at a crawl. Lesson learned.

What you desire is some kind of safe/plastic tube that you can fill with air. That should work.
Now that I'm washed beingness a smartass, I think that inflatable cooler would be a skilful buy.
